Oxidative Stress Supplements, and How They Work at the Cellular Level: MitoQ Has Promising Answers:

New York, NY, May 5, 2023 – HealthXWire announced today that it has awarded its Best Heart Health and Longevity Support Supplement Product Line Award for 2023 to New Zealand-based MitoQ Ltd. for its breakthrough technology in cell health, affording demonstrated heart health benefits. Unlike other oxidative stress supplements, MitoQ’s proprietary CoQ10 molecule is unique in its ability to support anti-aging activity at the cellular level through the neutralization of damaging free radicals and oxidative stress. The award is based on third-party clinical studies and the results of product research conducted by the magazine.

CoQ10 is one of the most consumed dietary and oxidative stress supplements in the U.S. and is the most recommended supplement by cardiologists. Factors such as rising health awareness, growing geriatric populations, and increasing adoption of dietary supplements have increased demand for CoQ10; market revenue is expected to cross $1.15 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.5%.

CoQ10 has also been gaining in popularity, and rising awareness of its heart health benefits continues to drive growth in developing areas such as China, creating new opportunities for MitoQ. Healthcare applications to promote heart health are expected to drive market statistics over the forecast period, increasing the demand for MitoQ’s heart health supplement, MitoQ+heart.

Coenzyme Q10 helps make energy in the mitochondria (small structures in the cell that transform food and oxygen into chemical energy), fueling cellular health and regeneration. In the process of creating biochemical energy, however, mitochondria emit free radicals, which are highly reactive fragments of oxygen and nitrogen. Excessive chronic amounts of free radicals in the body result in oxidative stress, which can lead to cell and tissue damage and chronic diseases.

Low levels of free radicals aren’t bad; they can clear cell damage and fight infections. Early in life, mitochondria control excess free radicals in cells by producing natural antioxidants. But with age, CoQ10 and other antioxidants start to decline naturally, and uncontrolled free radicals can begin to overwhelm mitochondria.

External cell stressors such as solar UV rays, environmental pollution, smoking, excess alcohol, processed food, low-quality sleep, too little (or too much) exercise, and life stress all erode the natural antioxidant defenses of mitochondria. Long-term, this oxidative stress can lead to a variety of health issues, including rapid aging, low energy, fatigue, brain fog, and slow recovery from exercise.

CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent damage to cell membranes and DNA caused by free radicals. Known to relieve oxidative stress, Coenzyme Q10 is currently being studied in the prevention and treatment of heart disease. Many consumers turn to CoQ10 and other supplements to combat oxidative stress. However, mitochondria have impermeable walls that common oxidative stress supplements, such as CoQ10, cannot effectively penetrate, rendering them less effective.

That’s where MitoQ’s pioneering cell health technology becomes a game-changer. This new and unique molecule, mitoquinol mesylate, is a very small and positively-charged advanced antioxidant that is electro-chemically attracted into the mitochondria – literally pulled inside. Clinically proven to absorb directly into the mitochondria, it allows for the more efficient natural production of crucial molecules such as NAD+ and CoQ10, which mitochondria require to generate energy and protect cells. MitoQ cells are also more likely to replicate to form newer, healthier cells that already benefit from the incorporated effects of MitoQ.

As an advance in CoQ10 technology, MitoQ can accumulate inside the mitochondria at levels hundreds of times higher than standard oxidative stress supplements, leading to speculation that MitoQ could replace CoQ10 supplementation.

The company’s flagship product, the award-winning MitoQ Pure, promises to enhance energy levels, improve joint health, athletic performance, healthy aging, and more. Customers have reported increased energy, alertness, better focus, deeper sleep, and numerous other health benefits. In addition, the heart health benefits of MitoQ are already apparent. A landmark clinical trial has shown that MitoQ decreases free radical production and significantly supports arterial function and the health of the aorta in older adults.

The scientific community has taken note of the product’s potential. Leading institutions around the world are currently studying MitoQ, with over 600 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 14 clinical trials completed to date and over 60 patents attained.

MitoQ was co-created at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Co-founding scientist Dr. Mike Murphy says the company is at the forefront of a new field of targeted molecules, supporting what he calls a “cellular health revolution.”

Mahara Inglis, CEO of MitoQ, says relief of oxidative stress is a “fundamental step to keeping our cells healthy and our bodies functioning well.” He adds that a developing understanding of cellular health is helping to change the way both scientists and the public view health and wellness.

“We’re trained to look for symptoms,” he says. But rather than waiting for illness to manifest itself, Inglis says, “You want to be the CEO of your own health and take preventive, proactive measures, to make choices, and to do so before you get sick.”

MitoQ recently debuted a new heart health formulation, MitoQ+heart. In addition to MitoQ Pure, it includes effective levels of heart health ingredients, including magnesium, vitamin D3, and L-carnitine.

Magnesium is especially important in the heart’s blood vessels; magnesium deficiency can affect both blood vessels and heartbeat. Vitamin D3 is an essential micronutrient required for optimal cardiovascular function; vitamin D3 deficiency has been linked to multiple risk factors related to cardiovascular health. Supplementation with vitamin D supports normal cardiovascular health, especially in people with restrictive diets. L-carnitine has been shown (alongside CoQ10) to help counter the effects that statins (a commonly prescribed class of drugs in people with increased cardiovascular risk factors) have on the heart muscle.

In addition to MitoQ Pure and MitoQ+heart, the company features an array of products that blend its unique molecule with research-backed supplement ingredients aimed toward more specific health issues. The company offers MitoQ+joint, which supports joint health and helps to facilitate greater mobility. MitoQ also produces MitoQ+liver, MitoQ+eye, and MitoQ+brain, all utilizing the company’s innovative technology to support a broad spectrum of health issues. MitoQ+heart is now available directly from the manufacturer and through e-commerce outlets.
