Is your love life feeling lackluster? There’s nothing shameful about a lacking libido. According to the Cleveland Clinic, some 43% of women and 31% of men experience sexual dysfunction at one time or another. While men often resort to that little blue pill, there’s always yohimbe for women.

Symptoms of sexual dysfunction in women

Most people think of sexual dysfunction as a lack of interest. On the contrary, a lack of desire is only one symptom. Others include:

  • An inability to become aroused
  • Absence of orgasm
  • Pain during orgasm or intercourse
  • Lack of lubrication
  • Inability to relax

Some of these problems increase with age, but medication (both over-the-counter and prescription) may also be to blame. Antidepressants, antihistamines, and decongestants are notorious for interfering with the ability to reach orgasm. Blood pressure medications and hormones taken during menopause, including Lupron and Zoladex, can also interfere with the body’s natural lubrication system. Again, there’s yohimbe for women to help counteract these side effects.

What is yohimbe?

The yohimbe tree is an evergreen native to central and western Africa. The bark contains yohimbine, a compound that’s been used for centuries as an aphrodisiac. It has also been used for centuries in African folk medicine to treat fevers, leprosy, coughs, and as a local anesthetic. Yohimbe has several medicinal benefits:

  • Helps with erectile dysfunction
  • Increases adrenaline, enhances energy, and therefore boosts both athletic and sexual performance
  • Decreases body fat levels
  • Increases the production of insulin for type-2 diabetes patients
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Suppresses appetite
  • Reduces stress
  • Treats narcolepsy (a sleep disorder)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of yohimbe as an over-the-counter supplement and as a prescription drug. You’ll often find it marketed under the brand names Aphrodyne, Yohimex, Testomar, Yohimbe, and Yocon.

Benefits of yohimbe for women

Aside from helping with weight loss by suppressing your appetite and neutralizing hunger, yohimbe for women can put the lust back in your love life. Dr. Ray Sahelian recommends yohimbe for women in his book “Natural Sex Boosters,” calling it a type of antidepressant because it contains selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Dr. Sahelian cites a study from the University of Texas, which tested the vaginal responses of 24 women. The half who took low doses of yohimbe had a substantially increased vaginal pulse… meaning their arousal level went way up.  Other sexual benefits of yohimbe for women?

  • Increases lubrication
  • Increases sensitivity of the clitoris
  • Stimulates the central nervous system
  • Increases blood flow to the sexual organs

Side effects yohimbe for women

When people discovered the herbal benefits of yohimbe, they began by boiling strips and drinking the brew.  Some companies have started putting the powder in capsules containing as much as 600 milligrams. However, doctors warn that high doses can cause dangerous side effects including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Disorientation
  • Insomnia
  • Increased body temperature and sweating
  • Headaches
  • Hives

Nursing mothers and pregnant women should avoid yohimbe because it hasn’t been tested on these populations, and it can interfere with the body’s natural hormones. The National Institute of Health also recommends against taking yohimbe if you are taking antidepressant medications called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as phenelzine (Nardil) and tranylcypromine (Parnate). Yohimbe can interact with these medications.

Good things come in small doses

Note that most of these side effects come with extremely high doses of yohimbe. When the benefits of yohimbe bark were discovered centuries ago, people began reaping those benefits by brewing it in coffee or tea… releasing a few milligrams of the potent herb. It’s the same way Evolvere offers yohimbe for women today: brewed in a coffee.

Evolvere’s Catalyst Coffee contains 2 milligrams of yohimbe – just enough to offer the benefits of yohimbe for women – without the unpleasant side effects. You also get the added benefits of naringin, L-theanine, and goji berry, which all lower stress levels. And let’s face it, stress is one of the biggest passion killers out there.

Pleasure comes with patience

It may take some time for you to feel the benefits of yohimbe. In tests, doctors found yohimbe for women older than 70 increased libido, but sometimes the results weren’t apparent for six months. Think of it like an exercise or healthy eating program. Worthwhile results don’t happen overnight.

While yohimbe for women will help re-light the fire in your romance, the boost of energy you’ll get will also motivate you to exercise more and stay in shape. A negative body image and fatigue are huge buzz kills in the bedroom. A cup of Catalyst Coffee will get you through your day… and help you enjoy your night.
